In December 2025, North Jakarta police had logged 87 reports over an alleged wedding organizer fraud. Those reporting weren't only couples but vendors too. Event items, including catering, were reportedly not provided despite being paid for, and vendors said they hadn't been paid, JawaPos wrote. Kompas TV put the losses at around Rp20 billion.

In June 2026, JPNN reported a similar complaint in Bandung Regency: hundreds of couples and a number of vendors, with down payments made in stages to an account in the name of the person reported. West Java police described it as alleged fraud and or embezzlement.

These cases don't represent the wedding organizers who do their job properly. But the pattern makes one question essential: when you transfer that down payment, where does the money actually sit? We traced the answer on Urswipe, from chat to payout.

Where does the money sit?

On Urswipe, payments go to an Urswipe holding account, not a vendor's or organizer's personal account. The idea is similar to escrow: you pay, the funds are held, then they pass to the vendor after the event according to the vendor's agreement with Urswipe.

One detail matters here: a vendor's agreement can allow part of the funds to be released early. So the most accurate phrase is held under the agreement, not always untouched until the big day.

If you use a wedding or event organizer through Urswipe, the same rules apply. They can see invoice status and due dates, but they can't pay on your behalf or see your payment account details.

Installments are fine, if you agree on them

An offer agreed in chat can include a payment schedule, from down payment and installments to final settlement. Each stage becomes its own invoice, with its status shown on the booking page. Got invoices from several vendors? You can pay them in one checkout, and the transaction fee is charged only once.

Before paying, you see the breakdown for each invoice, the service fee, the transaction fee, and the total. The available payment methods appear on that page too.

What if the vendor lets you down?

You can report a problem from the booking page and attach evidence. While the report is being handled, payout for that booking can be frozen. Urswipe staff then decide the outcome: a penalty for the vendor, moving funds to a replacement vendor, a refund, or rejecting the report if it isn't proven.

The protection only works inside

Everything above only applies to payments made through Urswipe. If someone asks you to transfer directly to a personal account, that transaction sits outside the system and isn't recorded on Urswipe. That's a red flag worth asking about twice.

On any platform, Kompas TV's advice still holds: check the organizer's office and legal standing, look up their track record, and be careful when the price is far below market.

A holding account can't guarantee your event will be drama-free. But when the drama comes, your money may not have changed hands yet.

FAQ

Where is my money held?

In an Urswipe holding account, not a vendor's or organizer's personal account.

When does the vendor get paid?

Usually after the event is done, according to the vendor's agreement with Urswipe. That agreement can allow part of the funds to be released early.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes, if the schedule is agreed in the offer. Each stage becomes its own invoice, with its status shown on the booking page.

What should I do if a vendor has a problem?

Report it from the booking page and attach evidence. Urswipe staff decide the outcome, such as a penalty, a replacement vendor, or a refund.

Are refunds automatic?

No. Refunds are made by manual transfer outside the system and then recorded by the Urswipe team.

Can an organizer pay using my account?

No. With your permission, an organizer can see invoice status and due dates, but they can't pay on your behalf or see your payment account details.
